Much of my practice can be summed up in a simple phrase: holding the government accountable to obey the law. Defending the California Delta and its residents from ruin by cynical governmental overreach in the mis-allocation of water resources, defending the civil and constitutional rights of ordinary people against bureaucracy, and defending the environment all depend on application of the tools of government accountability. The California Legislature and United States Congress have for many years provided statutory rights to the public to challenge administrative excess. It is now, more than ever, crucial that this tool kit is vigorously applied to check government overreach and the injustice that follows.
